This past Saturday was George Fox University’s commencement ceremony. It was a milestone for us, in that we graduate our first cadre of Act Six students. Five years ago we began a journey with this group of students. Seven of the original nine graduated, giving us a four-year graduation of 78%. In December our eighth student will graduate, giving us a five-year graduation rate of 89%. I would encourage you to click on the link to find out more about the Act Six program. It is designed similarly to the Posse program which is operated by the Posse foundation. Two key differences are that the Act Six program is a faith-based program and that there is a strong emphasis on these students returning to their home communities. George Fox University partners with the Portland Leadership Foundation. Both programs are excellent and can have an enormous impact on their campuses if they are leveraged properly. If you are a campus leader, I would encourage you to investigate the possibility of bringing this or a similar program to your campus.
